“What can I give to the Lord
for all He has given to me?” Psalm 116
An old woman was wandering through a strip mall. She saw signs for everything—every kind of store you can imagine. Then she noticed a sign that read: “God's fruit market.” She went up to God and said, “I want a perfect apple, a perfect peach, a perfect banana, and a perfect strawberry.” God sighed, shrugged shoulders and said, “I only provide the seeds.”
Our gifts, time, and talents are those seeds. Each gift we have is not our own, any more than our lives are our own. They belong to God. It is our Christian mission as stewards of these seeds to nurture them in ourselves and in others by our generous sharing and self-sacrifice.
We invite you to reflect on the many blessings and gifts God has bestowed on you and your family. We hope you will respond wholeheartedly to this invitation to share in the life of St. Matthew Parish. God will bless us abundantly.
