In past years, when the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception (December 8) fell on the Second Sunday of Advent, the Immaculate Conception was transferred to Monday, December 9, but the obligation did not transfer. After a recent clarification from the Holy See, this will no longer be the case: rather, the obligation will also transfer. Consequently, Monday, December 9, 2024, will celebrate the Immaculate Conception and be a holy day of obligation in the Dioceses of the United States. HOWEVER, given the short notice of this change, Bishop Battersby has dispensed the faithful from this obligation in 2024. Still, he asks each pastor “to have at least one Mass in which the people of God may celebrate the great gift of the Immaculate Conception…[and] each of the faithful to do some form of extra prayer if unable to attend the holy Mass, particularly praying the Rosary with at least one other person in community.”

The St Matthew Youth Choir is open to any student in grades 2nd-12th who would like to sing or play instruments! We will sing at the 10 am Mass the 4th Sunday of the month and will practice at 11 am on the 3rd Sunday of the month (after the 10 am Mass).
