What Are Devotions?

   The Catechism of the Catholic Church addresses devotions in Part IV, "Prayer," specifically under Section 2: "The Celebration of the Christian Mystery," which includes a subsection on Sacramentals and Popular Devotions. 

   Devotions are popular, time-honored prayers, rituals, and pious practices, such as the Rosary, Stations of the Cross, or novenas, that supplement the Mass and extend faith into daily life by expressing love for God, venerating Mary and the saints, and fostering a deeper connection to the sacraments.
